In food production, the hygiene and efficiency of the material feeding process directly impact product quality and corporate profitability. A well-known food company addressing the production of flour-based products has introduced a small-bag dust-free feeding station, effectively addressing the shortcomings of traditional feeding methods.
Previously, the company relied on manual bag-opening and material feeding, resulting in dust concentrations in the workshop as high as 50 mg/m³, far exceeding the national standard of 8 mg/m³. Material loss rates reached approximately 5%, and the process required three workers to operate simultaneously, leading to high labour intensity, material waste, and cross-contamination.
After introducing the small-bag dust-free feeding station, the situation improved significantly. The equipment primarily consists of a quick-opening stainless steel feeding hopper, a vibrating screen, a dust collector, and a controller. Workers open the feeding hopper door, place 25kg or 50kg flour bags on the rack, cut open the bag packaging, and the flour falls onto the screen. At this point, the dust collector activates, creating a negative pressure environment inside the hopper. Dust-laden air is drawn in, dust particles are filtered through the filter cartridge, and clean air is expelled. The material passes through the vibrating screen, with qualified flour proceeding to the next process, while the bags and debris remain on the screen.
Following the adoption of the small-bag dust-free feeding station, dust concentration in the workshop has been reduced to 6 mg/m³, meeting national standards. Material loss rate has been reduced to less than 1%, saving a significant amount of material costs annually. What previously required 3 people to complete the feeding task can now be easily handled by 1–2 people, with production efficiency improving by approximately 30%. Additionally, due to reduced dust pollution and human contact, product quality has become more stable, with the defect rate decreasing by 20%, bringing both economic and social benefits to the company.
